Moonstone is one of three birthstones for June and the 3rd-anniversary gemstone. Black Moonstone is a variety that was recently discovered in Madagascar. Moonstone is the best-known gem of the feldspar group of minerals. It is renowned for its adularescence, the light that appears to billow across a gemstone, giving it a special glow. Moonstone has been associated with both the Roman and Greek lunar deities. Hindu mythology claims that it is made of solidified moonbeams.

Lydia Daum holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has been a professional designer since 2007.
